You can now leverage dedicated ports (Fabric and Cross Connects) for interconnection via Equinix Metal.
Why a dedicated port, you ask? Great question! In addition to increased port speeds (up to 100G), a dedicated port allows you to appear as a provider on the Equinix marketplace and expands support to include physical Cross Connects.
Setup requires a few steps:
- Request a Dedicated Connection from the Equinix Metal portal.
- A Letter of Authorization (LOA) will be filled out by our Ops team and returned to you.
- If Fabric, place an order for a new Fabric port in the relevant portal.
- If a Cross Connect, place an order for a cross connect in the relevant portal.
- Wait for the Cross Connect or Fabric connection (the Equinix or Metal team will notify you).
- You can then attach a VLAN to your new dedicated port connection.
