Users would like the ability to view the status of their instance's hardware health in real-time. This information would enable users to proactively monitor the health of their servers and take action if a server enters a degraded state. By having this visibility, users can address any potential issues before they become critical, which can help to reduce downtime and improve the overall reliability and performance of their infrastructure. To achieve this, users would like to have this information available both through the Metal Console and API. The Metal Console would provide users with an intuitive and user-friendly interface for viewing the status of their hardware health, while the API would enable users to programmatically access this information and integrate it into their own monitoring and management systems.

The Equinix Metal SOS/OOB works by using SSH as an authentication mux and transport medium for connecting a Metal platform user to a virtual serial port that is redirected to by the chassis underlying lifecycle controller (iDRAc, IPMI, iLO etc), and it's great. There is a painful limitation that it requires that correct serial port settings to be configured by the customer's side, and access is limited to things that can be rendered by serial I/O. Modern lifecycle controllers, (iDRAC and IPMI specifically), also expose a VNC server that exposes traditional keyboard, video and mouse control to the guest OS. Having access to a KVM driven by VNC would open up a number of operator workflows that are currently impossible or out of reach. The idea here is to take the current SSH authentication / mux and extend it with a port redirection, where that port redirection includes a VNC framebuffer going by to the iDRAC/IPMI hosted VNC endpoint, allowing direct control of the iDRAC/IPMI KVM via VNC from the end user, wrapped in an SSH channel.

Hi- When I introduced myself as part of the new account team for a customer and shared my contact information, the customer asked if we could create a mailing list for their Equinix Account team. And when there are new team members, we can update the mailing list. Then, the customer doesn’t have to remember who to cc when they send an email. Allow customers to export/download a pdf file of their Project timeline/ Global Event Log.

Support a consolidated and industry-standard audit log that can display Organization-wide change and event logs for an account. This should be available through the Portal, via the customer API and as a streaming log to a 3rd party location.

In an effort to require a Metal Org's Team members to adhere to desired security requirements, could we please add the ability for an Org Owner/Admin to require Team members of their Org to have MFA enabled on their account before they can access any assets within that organization.

Provide feature to limit the source IP addresses allowed to reach the SOS console for reserved instances in a customers given project.

Be able to provide an official AOC from a certified auditor related to PCI controls for customers leveraging Metal and Network Edge.

Equinix Metal Organizations would like the ability to integrate their identity provider to authenticate into the Metal Console. By configuring both their identity provider and Equinix Federated SSO information organizations should be able to use their selected identity provider as a log in method.
